ABOUT PHIL
I was fortunate in the people around me and the fact that I was older when injured. Had my injury occurred when I was younger I might not have regained my self-belief. To transform the lives of Young People Facing Adversity, I have founded the British Inspiration Trust (BRIT). I am inviting a multitude of existing stakeholders, services and charities to come together and build BRIT with me for Young People who must not continue life surrounded by such devastation and difficulties.
BRIT will provide inspiration to re-ignite self-belief in Young People Facing Adversity; those coping with their darkest times, which can lead to such devastating outcomes as self-harm, depression and suicide. The 16-25 year old age group BRIT supports includes young people with a physical or mental disability, deprivation, injury, our wounded and young carers. Your pledge and partnership will help deliver the first National Centre of Inspirational Excellence. The BRIT Centre will be a catalyst, a hub for charities to form partnerships, where they can connect with young people, provide them with bespoke themed courses and lay the ground work for further support after their BRIT experience with local activities.
To gain trust and engender an ethos of partnering, BRIT will not compete with public funding and fundraising activities. Your support is therefore vital for social investment in these young people and to build a legacy that unites charities, support groups and activities. The BRIT Social Investment Legacy Pledges are an opportunity we are offering to innovative and visionary partners.
The BRIT Social Investment Legacy Pledges offer three opportunities to partner with us. The legacy pledges are: 1000 Capital partnership opportunities at £10,000 each to build the Centre; 1000 Equipment partnership opportunities at £5,000 each to equip the Centre; and 1000 Centre Course opportunities at £1,500 each to deliver course places for young people. The first step in this process is to build the BRIT Centre. I am requesting Legacy Pledges now with a flexible timeframe up to May 2012, which allows a choice of fiscal year and time to maximize a partnership strategy to suit you.
BRIT operates financially as a lean, transparent charity and rather than incur high costs, we have been gifted professional support during 2010/11 and 2011/12. We offer additional opportunities to become involved with BRIT through seconded staff or for organisations to assist BRIT with specific support.
Many people have joined the BRIT journey and believe, as passionately as I do, that there is a need to deliver self-belief through inspiration. The following pages lay out the BRIT visionary process. I will succeed in building BRIT, but I need your support to achieve this goal. Your pledge and partnership with BRIT will deliver the first National Centre of Inspirational Excellence. The strength of BRIT comes from a true team effort of working together. Please join me in changing the lives .
