BRIT ART
TIMINGS
& LAUNCH

Timings

There is flexibility to ensure that British Artists are not put under pressure and are given time to consider the invitation, create their works of art, and decide on which institution they would like to engage with to inspire student involvement.

2023

The first challenge is to invite British Artists to support BRIT Art.

24 Artists would fit with the BRIT Challenge theme of “24” for 2024.

Our aspiration is to secure the support of 24 British Artists by the end of 2023.

When we have the first 12, Bonhams would need to assist with dates for;

Date of the BRIT Art Auction

2024 (January to TBC)

British Artists will be asked to ensure their works of art are ready for TBC the Bonhams Catalogue creation.

This will ensure that the British Artists can create their works of art, then coordinate with Bonhams to photograph their creation for the Bonhams BRIT Art Auction Catalogue.

UK Art Colleges (and leading universities) will be invited to hold a competition for their students to create a work of art in 24 hours / 24 days around Movement, Mindfulness, and Motivation, to help destigmatise mental health. The institutions would be asked to put forward their winning student’s work of art and they will be displayed and judged by the BRIT Artists. This could be at the Launch Reception.

2024 (The Announcement and Launch)

Post-Media launch, we will invite the 24 British Artists, and representatives from UK Universities and Colleges that teach Art, to a Reception at Bonhams in the later part of 2024 to celebrate BRIT Art.

The announcement of the support of 24 British Artists to provide works of art for the BRIT Art Auction and to raise vital funds for BRIT to deliver the BRIT Challenge and both support and improve the mental health, fitness, and wellbeing of young adults, students, and staff, throughout the UK, will be the headline.

*Guidance would be needed to clarify dates that is achievable for all the British Artists supporting BRIT Art and for the institutions to hold internal competitions for their students. It is possible that the BRIT Art Legacy of inspiring students could move to 2025 to give institutions time and also to ensure the BRIT Art Auction is the main effort for 2024.

SOCIAL MEDIA

As a charity that focuses on improving the mental health and wellbeing of young adults, students, and staff, we have decided not to use social media to promote our work.

Based on expert research, we acknowledge that social media can negatively impact mental health, leading to: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, body dissatisfaction, poor sleep habits, loneliness, and self-harm.

Should Universities, Colleges, Students' Unions, or our Ambassadors, decide to post content relating to their BRIT Challenge activities on Instagram, we will comment and repost.
