In the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, China, rowing made its debut appearance at the Games. Helene became the first ever Paralympic champion in the sport.
Helene completed a degree in Biochemistry and later, a Masters in Human Neuroscience at Royal Holloway, University of London. More recently, Helene completed a Masters of Public Health at King's College, London.
Before taking up rowing Helene was a member of the Great Britain wheelchair basketball team from 2003 until 2006 and won two Paralympic World Cup silver medals in the sport.
The British Paralympic Association (BPA) Athletes’ Commission elected Helene as its new Chair in 2018. The BPA’s Athletes’ Commission comprises ten Paralympians and seeks to represent a balance of summer and winter sport, male and female athletes and a range of impairments.
We are delighted Helene has joined Row Britannia and has confirmed she will be visiting Royal Holloway, University of London between 9am and 1030am on 27th February 2020. Helene is an Honorary Fellow of Royal Holloway, University of London.
