We are delighted that James has joined our BRIT Ambassador family.
James is a wheelchair basketball player and Paralympic athlete based in Denbighshire, Wales.
“I am delighted to be part of the BRIT Ambassador family in order to support young adult mental health and fitness throughout the UK.
Having been a student and experiencing mental health challenges in my own life, I know that this is a crucial time to ensure we motivate, support and inspire students and young adults.
The BRT 2021 Challenge is a great opportunity for universities and colleges to enter teams and encourage student and staff participation.
This is an inclusive challenge so young adults of all abilities can take part wherever they are; at home or on campus.
I hope that Swansea University, the University of Chester, Grwp Llandrillo Menai College and Gower College Swansea enter teams and it would be a pleasure to encourage student participation through supportive video and social media messages.

James Roberts
Paralympian
James completed a BSc in Sports Science at Swansea University and then went on to complete a Post Graduate certificate in Sociology of Sport and Exercise at University of Chester.
He started out in his sporting career as a swimmer and then progressed on to other Paralympic sports including rowing and siting volleyball.
James competed for Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, finishing fifth in the trunk and arm classification in adaptive rowing. He also competed at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, finishing 8th in the sitting volleyball.
More recently, James was playing wheelchair basketball for the North Wales Knights until COVID-19 restrictions in March 2020 impacted on the ability to play the sport.
Should Swansea University, the University of Chester, Grwp Llandrillo Menai College and Gower College Swansea enter teams in the BRIT 2021 Challenge, James would be delighted to encourage student and staff participation.
