The Charlie Waller Trust partners with BRIT for the BRIT 2021 Challenge

Writer: Phil PackerPhil Packer

We are delighted that The Charlie Waller Trust are partnering with us for the BRIT 2021 Challenge and will be one of five charities benefiting from funds raised by universities and colleges throughout the UK.

The Charlie Waller Trust's Vision is of a world where people understand and talk openly about mental health, where young people and those who support them are equipped to maintain and enhance their mental health and wellbeing, and have the confidence to seek help when they need it.

Since their creation in 1997, The Charlie Waller Trust have become one of the UK’s most respected mental health charities.

Their overarching mission is to educate young people and those with responsibility for them - so parents and carers, teachers, college and university staff, employers, GPs and Practice Nurses - about their mental health and wellbeing.

“We very much admire what The British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) is trying to achieve through this collaborative approach; we are particularly excited about the potential of the BRIT 2021 Challenge in helping support mental wellbeing in further education colleges, which work with some of the more disadvantaged young people in our society.

We are delighted to be an equal beneficiary of funds raised through the BRIT 2021 Challenge.

We are sincerely grateful to Clare and Elina, Fundraising Officer at The Charlie Waller Trust, for all their enthusiasm and support for our BRIT 2021 Challenge.

Our aspiration is for every UK university and college in the UK to enter teams in the BRIT 2021 Challenge so that together we can raise vital funds and ensure more students and staff are aware of the extraordinary support and services that The Charlie Waller Trust provides.

Based on expert research, we acknowledge that social media can negatively impact mental health, leading to: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, body dissatisfaction, poor sleep habits, loneliness, and self-harm.

Should Universities, Colleges, Students' Unions, or our Ambassadors, decide to post content relating to their BRIT Challenge activities on Instagram, we will comment and repost.
